Get more exercise when you are short on time

13 September, 2021 Anuja Sahi

You are too busy to get in more exercise? Try these no-sweat strategies to just move more when you can’t seem to find time for a complete workout. It’s quite normal when you have a lot of points on your to-do list; it is easy to drop your idea of a workout.

However, there are several ways to make sure that you do not miss your workout and that too without sweating heavily. Through this blog, we are going to list down some of the exercises that can help you to get the most out of your limited, short time in the gym.

Some of the easy ways to boost your activity level:

  • Work on 10- Minute workout: Confined under the four walls of your room? Boost your heart rate and brainpower with this easy and short time workout.
  • Don’t just talk Walk and Talk: You don't have to be stuck to your chair if you're glued to your phone for work calls. Make talking and walking a habit. Some offices include walking trails to help you burn calories while you work.
  • Bear Crawl: If done correctly, the bear crawl is a fantastic exercise that works your entire body! This will be felt in your shoulders and core. Change it up! You don’t have to crawl forward; you can also crawl backward or sideways. This technique will engage your core while also working your shoulders.

In the case you have a short time; you can try few other ways like:

  • Try it with your friend: This is one of the best ways to find time for a workout. If you have planned a time to see a friend, try socializing while you move; instead of fixing a meeting in a restaurant, go out for a window-shopping with your friend. As per the research, exercising with your friend makes you exercise harder, longer, and better.
  • An elevator may take you up, but not your health: Choosing an elevator instead of stairs is one of the most common mistakes, almost all of us commit daily. The elevator will certainly help you to reach your destination much faster, but will not help you in managing your workout time. By choosing stairs, you are choosing a good medium of exercise.
  • Just stand up: Standing up is for the situation when you have really no time. Standing up for a good amount of time is much more beneficial than just sitting throughout the whole day. Even if you have a sitting job, try moving your body or stand upon an equal interval of time.
  • Don’t just stand and wait: Do calf raises the next time you are waiting for your barista to bring your drink or for the subway to arrive (come up onto your toes, pause, then slowly come back down). It’s better than just waiting and doing nothing.

Let us discuss the benefits of getting active:
