4. Improves digestion: Honey catalyzes the digestion process by breaking down carbohydrates and sugar. Methylglyoxal, a compound present in honey is responsible for antibacterial properties that help in eliminating the bacteria responsible for most of the digestive disorders. It also refines your immunity by preventing any stomach related diseases in the future. Honey along with lemon in lukewarm water helps to cure indigestion and constipation.

5. Reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer: Honey is a rich source of phenols and other antioxidant compounds. These antioxidants do not eliminate cancer but are efficient in controlling the side effects of the radiation and chemotherapy that are performed to treat cancer. They help the arteries to become wider and enhance the blood passage to the heart and the body, thereby preventing the development of blood clots that stimulates heart attacks and strokes.

6. Helps in weight loss:
For people who are on diet, it is recommended to replace sugar with honey. This is because of the fact that sugar has empty calories, whereas honey in contrast is rich in vitamins and minerals. Calories are present in honey too but the vitamins and minerals in honey help to burn the unused fats. It also helps in the reduction of bad cholesterol in the body.

According to a study, an athlete who consumed fructose-rich food, such as honey burned more fats which also increased his stamina. Hence, honey fuels up the fat burning process in the body.
